Tom Butler – Designer. An Atlanta native, Tom is an independent game developer by night, and a Combat Rescue Officer leading pararescuemen by day.

He founded Green Feet Games Inc, with the goal:

To make games that inspire flow among gamers--positive shared group experiences.

He has studied this psychological phenomenon in many arenas most notably, Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers.

He strongly follows Plato's motto: "You can learn more from a person in one hour of play, than in a lifetime of conversation."

To keep people engrossed in the activity of social gaming, he's developed a Pirate co-operative and competitive strategy game with realistic historical and geographic details.

Currently his hobbies include returning from any place ending in "stan," coaching soccer, all grain home brewing, and anything that’s fun & challenging.

His children also double dog dared him to make a board game….and here it is. Favorite board game: The Pirate Republic.  Best of all, we've already started designing our second game.

A designer should focus on creating games that keep a player’s skills fully involved. When the games increasing challenges finally matches the player’s skills, you have flow. When you have flow, they’re enjoying themselves...and best of all, they’ll want to play again & again.

This is why its hard to find a chess player, striving to play better checkers.
